VISIT TO THE SILK MUSEUM AND PARADISE MILL, MACCLESFIELD

Key Features:  The Silk Museum features marvellous industrial textile machinery and displays of textiles and fabric designs. Find out how silk shaped Macclesfield over 300 years and its connection with Ancient Egypt. Get a taste of 19th- and 20th-century fashions with the costume collection and discover the crucial role that the silk industry played during the Second World War.  

Paradise Mill is the heart of the Silk Museum and is situated next door. The Mill is visited through a Guided Tour which is included the price of the day out.

There is in addition a tea room and a shop.

Stuart Hadley has prepared a short overview of The Silk Road.

Timetable

08.00  -  Depart from the Meres Centre, Grantham        

11.15  -  Arrive at the Silk Museum

16.00  -  Depart from the Silk Musem       

19.00  -  Arrival (approx.) back at Meres Centre Grantham

 

Booking a Place: The booking period starts from May 19th and will also be on the website

Cost:   £35 per person BACS (preferable method) reference TASGV, cheques and cash accepted

Cancellations: Before 31st August will be refunded. After this date, the place may be passed to another person as long as Stuart Hadley is informed.
