WELCOME TO THE HOME PAGE OF THE ARTS SOCIETY GRANTHAM

Our objective is to enhance our membership's appreciation of our artistic and cultural heritage, both national and international, in the lively company of others with similar interests.

We enjoy inspiring monthly lectures from first class speakers, top experts in their field who are Arts Society accredited lecturers.  They cover a wide range of topics in the fine and applied arts, including architecture, furniture, music, ceramics, paintings, dance, theatre and many others.

The Arts Society is a great way to learn, have fun and make new and lasting friendships.

Your committee always work hard to prepare a diverse and diverting programme and we hope you will enjoy all that is on offer. We are proud of the variety of subjects in our programme and know from talking to members that it is often the lectures one doesn’t expect to enjoy particularly which are the most enthralling.

In addition, visits are arranged to historic houses, museums and galleries and other places of interest. We also arrange Special Interest Days to look at a subject in greater depth.

At regional level we are part of the East Midlands Area, which provides expert support in Heritage Volunteering and Discovery Trails projects.

What do we offer our Members?

Your membership subscription provides entry to 10 high-grade lectures from September to June, every third Tuesday of the month.  Our subject coverage over the years has included not just paintings, crafts, porcelain, architecture and gardens, but also the changing social context of art over the centuries, street art, the contribution of women artists, and Asian and African sources of art.  Complimentary tea and coffee are provided before each lecture.

We also arrange a number of Visits throughout the year and two in-depth Special Interest Days usually in October and April.  These are all subject to an additional charge to cover costs.

Our Membership extends well beyond the town of Grantham to surrounding villages and districts.

Where we meet?

In the Lecture Theatre of the Guildhall Arts Centre, St. Peters Hill, Grantham. The Guildhall is centrally located with excellent facilities.  See the Join Us page for more details.
