| DAY VISIT TO SALTS MILL, SALTAIRE FEB 5th 2026 |
Salts Mill, in the historic and unique World Heritage Site of Saltaire, is an imposing and elegant former textile mill. It was commissioned and financed by Sir Titus Salt and opened in 1853. It now houses art galleries (there is a large David Hockney collection), a history museum (with film about Saltaire and Salts Mill), select shopping outlets, a café and restaurant (please book if you would like the restaurant). Saltaire is a beautiful village with Italianate architecture. Coach trip costs £25 per person and admission is free. Bookings open on October 21st. The booking form will be available outside the October and November lectures and online from Tuesday 21st October. Avoid missing out, by making an early booking! THIS TRIP IS NOW FULL. Visit to BURTON AGNES HALL Thursday 25th Sept 2025 Burton Agnes Hall near Driffield in Yorkshire has sublime Elizabethan architecture and carvings. It holds a vibrant art collection including many Impressionists and contemporary pieces. In the grounds is the vast walled Garden with a maze, the Norman Manor House, the village Church and the Woodland gardens and walks. Admission includes an introductory talk to the Hall and thereafter self exploration of the 3 floors and to all features in the grounds. There is the usual range of visitor facilities including the Stableyard Cafe and Picnic area. Timetable: 08.10 Depart Meres Leisure Centre, Trent Road, Grantham NG31 7NQ. | TASG DAY VISIT TO THE FASCINATING CITY OF LEEDS |
The culture-rich City of Leeds is ideal for a winter visit. The Leeds Art Gallery with the recently linked Henry Moore Institute on the Headrow will be your drop-off point. Access is free and visitor facilities are excellent. Other opportunities await you. The spectacular Victorian architecture of the Shopping Arcades, the Corn Exchange and the Indoor Kirkgate Market are not to be missed. | VISIT TO BEAUTIFUL OXFORD IN SPRINGTIME |
Oxford – ‘the city of dreaming spires’ with its beautiful architecture, colleges, museums, galleries and usual city attractions offers a wealth of opportunities to be explored at your own pace. The coach drop off point is by the world renowned Ashmolean Museum and Gallery where an art exhibition ‘Bruegel to Rubens’ will be running. Most museums are free entry and some offer free tours eg the Museum of Art and Archaeology. The Botanic Garden is a 15 min walk from the City centre.
